Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Podunio LLC ("Podunio," "we," "us," or "our") is a Connecticut limited liability company and the provider of Podunio. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect or receive, how we use and share it, and the choices that may be available to you.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, information created through your use of the service, and limited technical information generated when you interact with Podunio.

Account information

To operate an account, Podunio stores an internal account or Identity identifier, your email address, a username based on your email, your Google login or provider association, your account role, and podcast-generation allowance and usage information.

Content and service information

We receive the source content you submit for processing and create generated podcast audio and related metadata. The sections below explain how these materials are handled.

3. Google Authentication

Podunio currently uses Google OAuth for authentication. During sign-in, Google may temporarily provide additional profile or authentication claims. Podunio does not intentionally store those additional Google profile fields as permanent account-profile information unless they are required by the authentication system.

Your use of Google authentication is also subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy practices.

4. Uploaded Files and Source Content

Podunio currently accepts PDF, TXT, and Markdown files. Webpage capture through the Chrome extension is coming soon.

Uploaded source files are processed temporarily. Podunio does not intentionally retain the original source document after processing is completed and does not deliberately keep it as permanent Podunio source-file storage. ASP.NET or underlying infrastructure may temporarily buffer uploaded data in memory or temporary system storage while processing takes place.

5. AI Processing and OpenAI

Podunio uses OpenAI to generate podcast scripts, podcast titles, and podcast audio through text-to-speech. Source text is transmitted to OpenAI as necessary to generate a podcast. A source URL may also be transmitted where required for title generation, and generated scripts are transmitted for audio generation.

Podunio does not intentionally include account identifiers such as your email address, internal user ID, or Google account ID in AI requests solely to identify you. However, source content you choose to submit may itself contain personal, confidential, or identifying information. You should review source content before submitting it and only submit information you are authorized to process.

AI training

Podunio LLC does not currently use customer-uploaded documents or source content to train proprietary Podunio AI models. If Podunio materially changes how customer content is used in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notice or consent required by law.

OpenAI's handling of information is governed by its own applicable terms, privacy practices, and service arrangements. This policy does not make promises about OpenAI's independent retention or training practices.

6. Generated Podcasts

Completed podcast audio is stored using Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 so that it can be provided through your private library.

Podunio stores metadata needed to operate that library. This may include your user or account identifier, generated podcast title, source filename, source URL where applicable, source type, audio storage reference, audio file size, status, timestamps, generation errors, and content truncation status.

Source text and generated scripts are not intentionally stored as permanent podcast-database fields.

7. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• authenticate users and operate accounts;
• receive and process source content;
• generate titles, scripts, and podcast audio;
• store and deliver completed podcasts in private libraries;
• track plan allowances and service usage;
• maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the service;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service; and
• comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.

8. Service Providers

We rely on service providers to operate Podunio, including OpenAI for AI generation, Google for authentication, AWS for generated-audio storage, Cloudflare for website and infrastructure services, and hosting and database providers. These providers may process information on our behalf or as otherwise described by their own terms and privacy practices.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect the service and its users, investigate fraud or security concerns, or support a business transaction such as a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

9. Cookies and Browser Storage

Podunio uses technology necessary for authentication and preferences. This may include ASP.NET Identity authentication cookies, Google OAuth correlation or external-authentication cookies, temporary session browser storage for authentication state, and local browser storage for theme preference.

No advertising cookies are currently implemented. Google Analytics is not currently implemented.

Podunio may introduce analytics tools in the future. If non-essential tracking technologies are introduced, this Privacy Policy and any applicable consent mechanisms will be updated as required.

10. Technical and Log Information

Podunio and its infrastructure or security providers, including Cloudflare, may process ordinary technical request information such as an IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested URL, timestamps, device or network details, and similar diagnostic information.

This information may be used to deliver the website, maintain reliability, troubleshoot problems, detect and prevent abuse, and protect Podunio and its users. Cloudflare's use as infrastructure does not mean that Cloudflare Web Analytics is active, and we do not represent that it is currently enabled.

11. Data Retention

• Uploaded source files: used for temporary processing and not intentionally retained as permanent uploaded-file storage.
• Generated podcasts: retained while needed to provide your account and private library, until deleted or otherwise removed according to Podunio's policies.
• Podcast metadata: retained while needed to provide and operate the service.
• Account data: retained while your account remains active or as reasonably necessary for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or operational requirements.
• Logs: retained only as long as reasonably necessary for troubleshooting, security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and operation of the service.

Information may remain for a limited time in backups or logs until those systems expire or are overwritten in their normal course.

12. Account and Data Requests

Podunio does not currently offer a self-service feature for deleting a full account. You may request account or data deletion by emailing [email protected]. You can already delete individual stored podcasts from within the product.

We will handle valid requests subject to identity verification, technical feasibility, security and fraud-prevention needs, legal obligations, backup and log expiration, and other legitimate retention requirements.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information in light of the nature of the service. No method of transmission, processing, or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. International Processing

Podunio and its third-party services and infrastructure may process information in locations outside your state, province, or country. Those locations may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we will use appropriate measures for international processing or transfers; we do not promise a particular data-residency location unless expressly stated.

15. Children and Student Users

Podunio's general consumer service is not intended for minors to independently create accounts.

Podunio may make educational access available to students under 18 when access is provided, authorized, or managed by a parent or legal guardian, school, school district, educator, administrator, or other authorized educational organization.

Where a school or other organization provides student access, Podunio expects that organization to obtain and manage any permissions or authorizations required for its use of the service.

Podunio does not knowingly invite children to independently create consumer accounts. If a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized party believes a student's information has been handled improperly, contact [email protected].

16. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights concerning your personal information, such as rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to contact your local data-protection authority.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Podunio changes or as required by law. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent when legally required.
